This tutorial covers how to connect your Demand IQ Journey to Google Ads using Google Tag Manager (GTM).
By the end of this guide, you will know exactly which ads are generating leads so you can stop wasting money on the ones that don't.
What You’ll Need
- Your Demand IQ Dashboard open.
- Your Google Tag Manager account open.
- Your Google Ads account open.
- (Optional but recommended) The Google Tag Assistant browser extension.
⚠️ First-Time User Check: The Conversion Linker

If you have never used Google Tag Manager before, you must create a Conversion Linker tag first.
- In GTM, click Tags > New.
- Click Tag Configuration and select Conversion Linker.
- Select the trigger All Pages.
- Save.
If you don't do this, Google Ads won't be able to "see" what happens on your site.

Step 1: Get Your Journey Ready
First, we need to tell Demand IQ where to send the data and identify what we are tracking.
- Install the Code: inside your Demand IQ portal, go to Tracking. Paste your Google Tag Manager Container ID (starts with
GTM-XXXX) into the box.
- Publish: Click Save and then Publish your journey.
- Identify the Step Name: Look at your Journey steps. Find the exact name of the step where the lead submits their info. Usually, this is named
Lead Form.
- Note: You must copy the exact spelling and capitalization (e.g., "Lead Form" vs "lead form").
